In January, I posted an item about the bad state of repair of the bridges on the road to Cape Three Points. Well, I have some bad news and some good news. First the bad news – the wooden bridge collapsed again and the road is closed as a result. And now the GOOD NEWS – the bridge is being repaired!!! Stay posted for updates and don’t be surprised if the people of Chauvine, New Akwadae and Cape Three Points hold their own ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the occasion!!!

Our taxi is just back from dropping clients @ Safari Beach Resort. Erasmus, our new driver, said the road from Dix Cove was very bad indeed.

Yes, the road to Akwadae is much worse even than the road to Cape Three Points. The difference only is that it does not have failing bridges en route. The Minister of Tourism recently in a meeting that I attended in Accra suggested that the local District Assembly should be utilizing the new road grading equipment that they acquired to improve these roads. To date, we have seen no indication from the District Assembly that they intend to make use of this new equipment for that purpose. And yet the Government of Ghana continues to maintain that they consider the tourism industry to hold great potential for the future of the country…… And where does that leave the investors who have been working hard to ensure a successful tourism industry? And what about the citizens of the Western Region, from where so many of the country’s resources are derived? Do they not deserve better roads and access to hospital facilities and outlets for their agricultural produce?
