New experiences are often unsettling, and setting up a blog and posting the first item rank right up there for me. I remind myself of the advice that my son gave me when I first sat down to a computer about 15 years ago. He told me to “Just go for it, Dad. You can’t hurt anything. If you make a mistake, just remember to hit the DELETE button – no worries!” Well, Son, here we go again, and all I can say is this – you better be right!

Dear Rod,
I’m so thrilled to see your foray into the “blogosphere” (no kidding…that’s a real word!). It’s a fun place to be once you get used to it. And, yes, Akwasi is right. You can’t break anything.
I’m so looking forward to getting your first poetry book “African Rainbow ‘Round the Sun.” It’s a good one and I know folks will love it and learn so much about your beloved adopted home Ghana once they get ahold of it.
How do we do that?

My word for the day is “JUMP!” and so I share that with you 🙂 Your son is right.
Blogging gets easier and easier. Once you get to know “your people”, the ones who come to read you and like what you write–no matter what it’s about–it will be easier than ever. You picture them right there reading along and it is fun, not intimidating at all.
Plus everyone is really friendly and wants you to succeed, even strangers (like me)!
Best wishes on your new blog,
Olivia

blog, ironical that such an ugly word acts like an umbrella term for such beauty-our thoughts trying to make meaning of our fascinating world
